Carl, happily married to Ellie, the love of his life (who he met when he was like five..wow), spends a wonderful life with her. (The part where his and Ellie's life is pictured is also one of the most moving scenes.) But after she died, Carl mostly keeps to himself.
One day, he finds the adventure book Ellie wrote when she first met him, where she dreamt of going to and living at the Paradice Falls. And he sets out to fulfill her dreams.
And the adventure begins!
Only after he finally succeeds in reaching the Falls does he flips to the pages he've never seen in the adventure book.
